It's that time of the year again. Scores of the best mountaineers in the world are huddled in their tents at Everest Base Camp (EBC) in Nepal. They're starting their rotations up the mountain getting their bodies acclimatized to be ready for summit attempts in about a month’s time whenever a weather window opens up. We wish them the best of luck and above all safe passage up and down the highest mountain in the world.
The months of April and May offer a tiny break when temperatures are no longer freezing cold and the temperamental monsoon rains are yet to arrive in Nepal. It is the absolute ideal time, not only for experienced climbers to make a summit bid but also for outdoor enthusiasts eager to move around and discover the Khumbu valley - and it's exactly one year from now that we'll be guiding our next trekking group up to EBC!
We're excited to announce the resumption of Dreamcatcher Expeditions’ EBC trek for 2022. This last week we conducted several presentations over zoom and have received overwhelming response from people looking to join.
So why head to the Everest region? And why now?
We believe there has never been a better time.
We've all been locked up for way too long and yearn to get back to the outdoors. A multi-day walk through valleys, across rivers, and into the vertical snow-capped world of the Himalayas is just what the doctor prescribes.
On the other hand, people in Nepal are counting on tourism to return as soon as possible. There is troubling news that the COVID-19 pandemic has made it virtually impossible for many small family businesses to remain afloat. Sherpa-owned tea houses for example, those that offer warm food and a cozy bed to rest at night, are having to close and some fear many won't be able to reopen again.
This is why at Dreamcatcher Expeditions we’re as excited as ever to announce the opening of our 16-day expedition to Nepal scheduled from the 17th of April to the 2nd of May, 2022.
But, do I really have what it takes? Isn’t it only for experienced climbers?
It’s true that the EBC trek is physically demanding but you do not need prior climbing experience to enjoy this adventure. We will work closely with you, months in advance, to get your body and mind ready with a customized training program.

¡Únete a nuestra expedición al Campo Base del Everest en 2022!
Es ese momento del año. Decenas de los mejores alpinistas del mundo se encuentran refugiados dentro de sus carpas en el Campo Base del Everest (CBE) en Nepal. Están comenzando sus rotaciones en la montaña para acostumbrar sus cuerpos a la altura y estar listos para ascensos a la cumbre cuando se abran ventanas de clima favorable. Les deseamos toda la suerte del mundo y sobre todo que estén sanos y salvos en la montaña más alta del mundo.
Los meses de abril y mayo ofrecen un corto respiro entre las temperaturas gélidas del invierno y el arribo de las lluvias torrenciales del monzón a Nepal. Esta temporada es el momento ideal, no solo para los expertos alpinistas que intentan hacer cumbre, sino también para los amantes de la naturaleza y de aventuras al aire libre para realizar senderismo en el valle del Khumbu. ¡Es por eso que en exactamente un año estaremos guiando nuestro grupo de trekking al CBE!
Estamos muy emocionados de anunciar la reactivación de nuestro Trek a CBE en el 2022. Esta última semana ya realizamos diversas presentaciones por zoom y hemos recibido muchísimo interés de gente que quiere sumarse a la aventura.
¿Por qué ir a la región del Everest? ¿Por qué ahora?
En Dreamcatcher Expeditions pensamos que nunca ha sido mejor tiempo para ir.
Hemos estado encerrados por demasiado tiempo y morimos de ganas de salir a disfrutar de la naturaleza. Una caminata de múltiples días por los valles, ríos, y el mundo vertical y nevado de los Himalaya es exactamente lo que recomienda el doctor.
Por otro lado, la gente de Nepal apuesta por el regreso del turismo lo antes posible. Hay noticias preocupantes de que la pandemia del COVID-19 ha hecho que sea virtualmente imposible para muchas empresas familiares seguir de pie. Por ejemplo, muchas casas de té, albergues de montaña de los Sherpa, que ofrecen comidas calientes y dormitorios para descansar han tenido que cerrar y muchos temen que nunca más podrán volver a operar.
Es por esto, y por muchas otras razones, que estamos muy entusiasmados de anunciar nuestra próxima expedición de 16 días a Nepal agendada del 17 de abril al 2 de mayo, 2022.
¿Pero, puedo realmente hacer este viaje? ¿Que no es sólo para alpinistas expertos?
Es cierto que el trek al CBE es físicamente demandante pero no se requiere de experiencia previa de montañismo para disfrutar de esta aventura. Trabajaremos de manera conjunta contigo, meses antes, para alistar a tu cuerpo y mente con un programa detallado de entrenamiento.
No pierdas esta oportunidad para descubrir la ciudad mítica de Katmandú y de sus numerosos templos, palacios y mercados – y de esta oportunidad única para explorar al techo del mundo.
